for lesley

i had the great pleasure of working with lesley, and watching her ascend (or transcend) the ranks of the theatre cooperative: from her initial stint as stage manager for our inaugural production, to her tenure on the steering committee, to helming and rebirthing the theatre when the founders stepped away.

lesley decimated all notions of what an "assistant director" was, when she worked with me on our production of endgame in 1999. what a joy to have her intelligence in the room.

a great pleasure and a fond memory: many a night, vodka on the rocks, union square bistro.
